Deep Swell: Lore of the Angler

Deep Swell:  Lore of the Angle

I love rock and this debut album from Deep Swell really rocks.  They have a great, gritty, riff filled sound with a dash of funk tossed in to round it all out.

I have had the album since its release in October 2013 and have listened to it a lot.  I keep coming back to it as a new favorite.  Briena Pearl's voice really is perfect for Rock and Roll.  Tim Sult (of Clutch, another favorite band of mine) brings his years of guitar skills and awesome riff's into the mix.  Jesse Shultzaburger (of The Woodshedders) plays the drums.  Logan Kilmer (of Noetic Pull) plays the bass like no other.  Holy cow the base lines in the tracks are freaking awesome.

Here are some of my favorite tracks:

Track 3:  Criminal Reward:  Briena's voice and Kilmer's base and great lyric's make this one a standout favorite for me.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uhBY1SdRoc

Track 4:  Hilltop:  Great guitar riffs and speedy drum beat.  You like a pretty fast song?  This one's pretty fast.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnWOPu1F_gk

Track 7:  White Coat:  is another favorite.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmXW4Pu5cE0
as is
Track 9:  Green Eyes:  another great song.

The whole album is really good.  Strong riffs with great memorable base lines, fantastic vocals and thought provoking lyrics make for a great combination.  They are on the Weathermaker label, which is owned by the members of Clutch and their manager.  So if you like Rock and Roll, check your local record store or I-Tunes or whatever you use and get this album!

The Resurrection... of a blog that is.

Holy Cow!  What is this?  It's my old blog.  What do I do with it?  I know I'll start writing in it again.  No really, I will keep at this time.

Really I will.

Wow, the last post was in May of 2010, so much has happened since then.  We moved to into a great neighborhood in Woodstock, Georgia.  The boys are in first grade now and I retired from the Fire Department.  Retired?  Yes, and now I work harder than I ever did at the fire house.  I'm a stay at home dad now.  It's really the best thing I have ever done.  It is giving me quality time with my family and a chance to pursue photography in a more serious way.  I am even working on my first book.  I'm sure you will here more about it soon.  I actually have another blog for my book project.  It is www.warwashere.blogspot.com and has all the info about my project.  I will share post between the two sometimes, but this blog will be my personal blog.  Most of the shared post will be book reviews.

The boys you ask?  What are the into?  Trouble.  No not really their great boys and well behaved.  They are into Karate, Lego's, and video games.  So, I'm sure I will be posting about them and their exploits.

I also have done a bunch of DIY type projects around the house will be posting about some of them.  Since Lego's are such a big deal in this house, I will be sharing how we have organized all of our parts and how I built the Lego table.  That will be sometime next week though.

My Garden

Here are some pictures of the garden that I have planted. I will write a description of what all is in there and maybe draw a map of it, in the next post. I plan on prividing weekly updates of the garden. This was planted the day after Easter, so I'm a little behind in the posting of this.
Freshly tilled with a few soil amendments.
Planted and watered. Notice rain gauge.
Egg plant, Tomatillios, peppers.
string bean support
Note: The string bean support is constructed of bamboo and is lashed together using twine. I did not use any nails, screws etc. to build it. My neighbors son, who is a college student, had never seen anything like this before. I had to explain how the beans grow and why you build something like this.
